Business Profile

Salsa Style was formed in 2003 in reponse to a need for short Salsa Courses at Sydney University. Since formation, Salsa Style has gone on to hold regular and highly popular courses for Macquarie University and Sydney University, working with Student Unions, Sports Associations and Colleges.

Since formation, Salsa Style has been responsible for giving over 1000 students their first experience with Salsa. Many of these students have gone on to become regular dancers in the Sydney Salsa Scene, and now provide our largest source of business.... word of mouth....

In June 2005, Salsa Style was presented with a rare opportunity...to be the first dedicated Salsa school in Hornsby. This opportunity was seized and since opening the doors in June 2005 Salsa Innstinct was in business.

Salsa Innstinct has seen over 700 people since opening, and is proud to have the first dedicated Salsa Classes and the only Salsa Club production north of Chatswood and south of the Central Coast.

Our Philosophy

"You cannot dance without smiling"

The teachers at Salsa Innstinct understand this, and live by this. Our classes are held in a manner to encourage this.

Welcome to Salsa Innstinct the home of relaxed, friendly, pressure free, sociable dance classes.

We cater to those who want to learn to dance to be able to have fun, and enjoy being able to dance socially.

Our aim is not to create performers, or world class dancers - but to enable people to dance for the pure joy of it.

Directors of Salsa Style

Vov Dylan
Director/Lead Instructor

Vov has had a lifetime involvement with music and dance. With experience in Ballroom, Tap, and Tango dancing, he came to be involved with the Sydney Salsa Scene in 2001. Since this time he has taught for some of Sydney's leading Salsa Schools, and was involved with choreography and performances for the Bacardi Festivals in Darling Harbour.

Vov has also had a large administrative input into the direction of some of the major events in Sydney Salsa including the creation of the guidelines and judging criteria for Sydneys leading Salsa competition.

His passion for Sydney Salsa led to his doing an Honours Thesis at Sydney University on the workings of the Sydney Salsa Scene.

From this background, Vov has a very clear focus in his dance instruction and in the way he directs the courses of Salsa Style and now Salsa Innstinct.....that is to deliver a fun relaxed class environment where the predominant aim is to provide the skills for people to be able to have the confidence to get up in a social club and dance for the fun of dancing.

Toni Ferguson
Director/Instructor

Toni has also had a number of years experience in dance. Starting as a small child with Physical Culture, moving on to Standard Ballroom and Latin Ballroom, and finally Salsa.

Toni also has a good understanding of music, and the combination of music and dance. She learnt and played piano for a number of years, and is a trained singer. She performs on stage as a singer/dancer in club/cabaret shows.

Since the formation of Salsa Style, Toni has been responsible for inspiring hundreds of students to learn Salsa and has become recognised and applauded for her fun teaching manner which enables the whole class to relax, overcome their inhibitions, and learn how to salsa!
